The Agriculture and Food Processing Committee of VM2047 serves as a critical platform to drive inclusive and sustainable transformation across Maharashtra’s agricultural value chain. Initially established as the Agribusiness Committee, it has evolved into a multidisciplinary body focused on addressing urgent challenges across Food Security, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Floriculture, Pisciculture, Food Processing, Rural Development, and Agricultural Finance.

To enable inclusive and resilient growth in Maharashtra’s agriculture sector by empowering all stakeholders—from grassroots farmers to agri-tech companies and global food chains.

Our Mission

Over the next two years, the committee aims to:

  • Identify Core Challenges – Capture the voices of farmers and agribusinesses to address pressing bottlenecks.
  • Drive Policy Advocacy – Develop actionable, research-backed recommendations for government and industry.
  • Foster Integration – Connect front-end retail networks with farm-level operations to ensure seamless supply chains.
  • Promote PPP Models – Facilitate public-private partnerships to increase productivity, especially for small and marginal farmers.
  • Represent Industry Needs – Present data-driven, industry-supported proposals for agricultural reforms and innovation.

Agriculture

Covers key crops, pulses, horticulture, and floriculture to enhance farm yields and market access.

Food Processing

Focuses on value addition, exports, cold chain integration, and agri-innovation.

Animal Husbandry

Encompasses dairy, fisheries, and livestock development as critical contributors to rural income.

Agriculture Markets and Logistics

Works on improving food supply chains, storage, and public distribution efficiency.

Rural Development

Provides support for agri-finance, rural infrastructure, and livelihood generation programs.
